punctum collective is an international contemporary music ensemble based in Vienna. Bringing together acoustic, electroacoustic, live electronic, and performative practices, punctum creates concert experiences that invite curiosity, foster deep listening, and resonate on both emotional and intellectual levels. punctum’s repertoire spans music of the 20th-21st centuries alongside works commissioned for the ensemble by composers including Katharina Klement, Daniela Terranova, Zach Thomas, Nava Hemyari, Evgeny Ignashev, and others.
punctum collective are Sarah Maria Dragović (viola, sound objects), Konstanze Heinicke (violin), Eirini Krikoni (violin), Jake Mann (clarinet, bass clarinet), Nava Hemyari (voice, composition, electronics) and E Ignashev (composition, electronics, sound art).

Verein zur Förderung zeitgenössischer Musik und transmedialer KunstformateAs a Vienna-based cultural association (Verein), punctum develops projects at the intersection of contemporary music, sound art, and transmedia practices. Its mission is to create thoughtfully curated experiences that bring together music with audiovisual art, performance, installation, free improvisation, and site-responsive formats, fostering new ways of listening and engaging with sound. The choice of venue is an integral part of each project. Rather than serving as a backdrop, every space becomes an active musical partner: its acoustics, architecture, and lighting are carefully explored and woven into the artistic concept of each performance. punctum curates several concert series in Vienna: Blinds (Künstlerhaus Wien / Albertina Modern, Brick 15, Haiz Creative Cluster), moquette (Konzilsgedächtniskirche Lainz-Speising), and All That Matters (Wasserturm, Echoraum, Jesuitenkeller). The collective also hosts the punctum in conversation podcast, featuring composers, performers, and sound artists from around the world in conversations about artistic practice, collaboration, and creative process.

p u n c t u m collective ist ein internationales Ensemble und Kulturverein mit Sitz in Wien. Das Kollektiv versteht zeitgenössische Musik als räumliche, soziale und interdisziplinäre Erfahrung. Instrumente, Stimme, Elektronik, Klangobjekte und performative Elemente treten dabei in einen Dialog mit Architektur, Akustik und dem jeweiligen Aufführungsort. Das Repertoire umfasst Musik des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts ebenso wie eigens für das Ensemble geschriebene Werke. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Programme, die zeitgenössische Komposition mit elektroakustischen, audiovisuellen und performativen Ansätzen verbinden und neue Formen des Hörens eröffnen. Als Kulturverein initiiert und kuratiert punctum eigene Konzertreihen und künstlerische Formate in Wien. Dazu gehören Blinds (Künstlerhaus Wien / Albertina Modern, Brick 15, Haiz Creative Cluster), moquette (Konzilsgedächtniskirche Lainz-Speising) sowie All That Matters (Echoraum, Jesuitenkeller). Mit dem Podcast punctum in conversation schafft das Kollektiv darüber hinaus einen Raum für Gespräche mit Komponist, Interpret und Klangkünstler über künstlerische Praxis, Zusammenarbeit und kreative Prozesse.

moquette is a concert series founded by punctum collective in 2019 in the Konzilsgedächtniskirche Lainz Speising, Vienna. One of the world’s brutalist concrete achitecture gems, this airy and minimalistic church created by Josef Lackner 1966-68 provides a perfect acoustic and aesthetic environment.
moquette blends together music of different ages in a single atmosheric musical experience. From new acoustic and electroacoustic works to medieval music and improvised live-electronic performances.
The name derives from the french ‘moquette’ for a thick carpet, referring to the one present in this church. Besides having a particular tactile feeling it has an important damping quality, creating a special sonic space within the reverberant venue.

Blinds, music, analog film projections. blinds is a concert series created by punctum at Künstlerhaus Wien / Albertina Modern (Vienna) in cooperation with filmkoop wien — association for experimental indie filmmakers working with analog film.blinds brings a special concert experience to the audience — partly purely aural, eliminating the visual sense, partly mixing the sight and hearing back together, blending contemporary music with experimental film projections from independent filmmakers.
blinds ist eine seit 2022 bestehende Konzertreihe u.a. in Kooperation mit dem Verein filmkoop wien. In diesem Konzertformat treffen experimentelle analoge Filmprojektionen von unabhängigen FilmemacherInnen bzw. visuelle Konzepte auf zeitgenössische Musik. Zwischen Hören mit Augenbinden und Musik, Projektion, Performance und Film - ein rein akustisches Hörerlebnis trifft auf eine Vermischung von Sehen und Hören und bietet dem Puplikum ein einzigartiges Konzerterlebnis.
Haben Sie sich jemals gefragt, warum auf der Bühne von MusikerInnen so oft schwarz getragen wird? Denn diese unbunte Uniformierung der KünstlerInnen hat einen einfachen Grund. Der Mensch nimmt seine Umgebung nämlich zu fast 80% allein über seine Augen wahr. Das Tragen von Schwarz ist somit der Versuch die visuellen Ablenkungen für das Publikum weitgehendst zu verringern und ist, wenn es in Konzerten primär um das Erlebnis des Hörens geht, zur gängigen Angewohnheit geworden.
In der Konzertreihe ,,Blinds” wollen wir uns diesem Konzept in dem Raum ,,Factory’’ im Künstlerhaus Wien aus einer offensichtlicheren Richtung nähern. Den Gästen werden vor Konzertbeginn Augenbinden ausgehändigt und sie werden gebeten diese während der ersten Konzerthälfte zu tragen. Das Publikum verzichtet jedoch nur vorübergehend auf den Sehsinn. In der zweiten Hälfte wird es dazu aufgefordert die Augenbinden wieder abzunehmen und es werden kurze Stummfilme gezeigt, die frei von den MusikerInnen begleitet werden. So wird dem Publikum vielleicht ein aufmerksames oder tieferes Verständnis für den Sinn des Hörens und des Sehens oder eine intensivere Wahrnehmung der Musik ermöglicht, die im Rahmen von ,,Blinds” aufgeführt werden wird.
